The People vs. Friar Laurence: The Man Who Killed Romeo and Juliet is a musical reworking of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet , told through the eyes of Friar Laurence, the mastermind behind the timeless lovers' star-crossed fatal moments. The show was created using the following formula: Troubled teenagers + feuding families + political intrigue = musical comedy. The musical was wildly popular in Chicago where it premiered at Chicago Shakespeare Theatre.
